The newest take on the original petticoat is called the Pettiskirt. It is our gorgeous chiffon nylon creation that has caused a frenzy amongst Moms, Daughters, and Grandmothers everywhere. So much fluffy, billowing, ruffly fun. Pettiskirts are worn as a skirt, and do not need anything “over” them. Many people wear our pettiskirts with leggings or capris underneath. Others wear them without. The pettiskirts we make are not see through, so there are no worries about that.
To date, the most popular of our pettis are: Zebra, Pink with White, Brown with Pink, and the new Mermaid is rivaling all of them right now! A sweet customer told me I should re-name the Mermaid Skirt to be called the Hydrangea Flower Skirt. Ya know, It really does look like a Hydrangea. Speaking of which, did any of you know that you can change the color of your Hydrangeas? Yes, it is true. You need to add amonium (sp?) to the soil around the plant. There is another ingredient as well, that delivers other colors.
It is fairly easy to change the color of hydrangeas from pink to blue, but more difficult to change them back or convert a blue one to a pink hydrangea. If you want to change colors, from blue to pink, you should consider keeping the plants in pots, since you can better control the type of soil used and its components. You cannot however change the white ones.
Getting blue hydrangeas is actually very simple. You can take the average pink hydrangea, plant it in a pot by adding a few metal to the soil. Putting in several nails right below the plant is an excellent idea. If you want to plant the hydrangea in the ground, simply add a few aluminum nails to the hole right before you add the hydrangea. You can always add more if the plant exhibits pink flowers at a later stage.
Another way you can change the color of hydrangeas from pink to blue is to add a small amount of aluminum sulfate to the plant. This should be done to mature plants only, and added extremely sparingly since the chemical can cause irreparable root damage.
So, back to pettiskirts and petticoats. The petticoat has had so many changes, alterations etc. that it is mind boggling. This newest version is the most feminine and definately the most fun. It is a sheer chiffon delight to be bestowed upon lovely ladies, big and small.
We also sell chiffon petticoats. They are not as full as the pettiskirts, but are adorable under a dress that needs dome “poofing”. And they are so cute peeking out of a jean skirt or other skirt.
